Restless Hounds

Seventh game from little ol' me, and the second of game jams I've participated in to completion. Dive in the dreams of an aged an eccentric hound by the name of Puppy Wave and see what it takes to get back to the waking world along the way!

Download the provided .zip file before and extract the folder with a program like 7zip. Once in the folder, run the Player.exe file to play the game. Pressing Alt + Enter keys while in-game will run windowed mode. A read me text file is provided in the zip with this same information.

Maps featured in this RPG Maker 2003 game were provided by the jam host (linked above in this description you're reading). Likewise, the tilesets / textures for each map are utilizing the default ones within this engine. As per the rules of the jam, those two things have been not altered except for the allowed / modifiable events, music choices, one parallax background choice, and scripting. What I've added is my own spritework for the game's cast, drawn portraits for them I made, and all the writing (dialogue, lore bits, flavor text) within the entire game done by myself. Coding for the events, cutscenes, and puzzles were handled by me using the default tools within RPG Maker 2003.

Game itself can be completed within an hour if one takes their time. Features a hell of a lot of dialogue, puzzles along the way that aren't too complicated nor boring, and an experience that can enjoyed without dabbling in any combat nor inventory management at all. Pausing and saving are both disabled by default as part of the game experience.

Controls for the game:

• WASD / Arrow Keys: Move character, navigate menus, navigate choices.
• Enter / Spacebar: Interact with NPCs and objects, make menu / dialogue choices.

CONTENT WARNINGS:

• Trauma
• Cartoon Violence
• Mentioned Gore (Purely textual, played comedic and brief.)
